A Johnson County woman is upset that her brand-new house seems to be falling apart, KMBC's Jim Flink reported Friday.

Susan Sabin bought the house less than five months ago, and she said shortly after she moved in, she started noticing problems, such as cracks in the foundation and doors that won't shut.

One of her biggest concerns is a hole in the wall between her laundry room and her garage

"The hole is getting bigger -- I can stick almost my entire hand in there. I have to stuff it because the creatures are getting in," Sabin said.

She said the problems are escalating by the day. She has ordered two different studies of the foundation.

"It's such an accelerated rate, and the engineer told me that he didn't know what was going on with my house, but it's happening very fast," Sabin said.

She said the builder, Pulte Homes, isn't helping.

"Warranties are only as good as what the builder will do," Sabin said.

Pulte's Todd Lipschutz said he wants to stand by his company's warranty, but he can't.

"We haven't had the opportunity to visit the home in over 30 days," he said.

"Why not?" Flink asked.

"She won't allow us access," Lipschutz said.

He said the problem is soil expansion, which is something he thinks he can fix. He said the problem is only getting worse.

"We have had similar issues with worse circumstances and we've been able to fix the problem, satisfy the homeowner and stand behind our warranty," Lipschutz said.

Sabin said fixing all the problems is monumental, and she just wants to get out of the home.

"I want them to purchase back this house. I want them to do whatever magic they have to do," Sabin said.

Lipschutz said first the company needs to try to fix what is wrong. He said buying back the home isn't an option.

Sabin said her mortgage is from Pulte and she feels as if there is no way out.
